gotta love it: the city supports building a replica of a World War 2 bunker--partially disguised as an apartment building (though, ONLY partially), while not supporting the preservation by engaged young people of a historic building as an alternative cultural center.
They did the same thing in West Germany in the 70s and 80s and the east Germans are merely catching up with history. The fact that such destructive silliness has pretty much ceased elsewhere in the world has been lost on the guiding lights of city life here in Halle, a city just northwest of Leipzig. Believe it or not, the city encouraged the building of this block-bunker because they want the city to become known as The City On The River. That bunker you are looking at is sitting right on the river in an area surrounded by nature. NOW, there's sharp thinking for you! When will developers liberate themselves from the clutches of the Borgitekts? How is it that the Borgitekts convince a developer to spend millions of Euros on a cement and glass bunker? I've read an interview with the developer and he is serious and well-intentioned. Do the Borgitekts use some device right out of Netflix's Black Mirror that is secretly inserted into the brain and destroys all desire for beauty, color, curves, creativity, natural materials and visual details? THIS IS 2018 for gods sake! How can it be? ONE reason is that Halle--much more than Dessau or Weimar--has become the Occult Temple location for the Borgitekts. The Cult of Ugliness is sucking the life and beauty out of what was once one of Germany's most beautiful cities. And the political parties here in Halle---particularly The Left Party (Die Linke) and the two major parties, the CDU (Merkel's party) and the SPD (the party of Martin Schulz and his twin Sigmar Gabriel)--are gung-ho for cement, glass and steel boxes as some sort of expression of a city that people would want to live in--despite the overwhelming evidence of cities like San Francisco, Prague and Berlin that people, especially young people, want to live in beautiful and preserved historic cities. Go figure. [die Berichte und Meinungen hier sind 100% unabhängig von Hasi und keine Person von Hasi hat an der Vorbereitung dieses Berichts teilgenommen.]

Tom Waits Lyrics
"House Where Nobody Lives" There's a house on my block That's abandoned and cold Folks moved out of it a Long time ago And they took all their things And they never came back Looks like it's haunted With the windows all cracked And everyone calls it The house, the house where Nobody lives Once it held laughter Once it held dreams Did they throw it away Did they know what it means Did someone's heart break Or did someone do somebody wrong? Well the paint was all cracked It was peeled off of the wood Papers were stacked on the porch Where I stood And the weeds had grown up Just as high as the door There were birds in the chimney And an old chest of drawers Looks like no one will ever Come back to the House where nobody lives |
Once it held laughter
Once it held dreams Did they throw it away Did they know what it means Did someone's heart break Or did someone do somebody wrong? So if you find someone Someone to have, someone to hold Don't trade it for silver Don't trade it for gold Because I have all of life's treasures And they are fine and they are good They remind me that houses Are just made of wood What makes a house grand Ain't the roof or the doors If there's love in a house It's a palace for sure Without love... It ain't nothing but a house A house where nobody lives Without love it ain't nothing But a house, a house where Nobody lives |
"Get 'Em Out By Friday" [John Pebble of Styx Enterprises] "Get 'em out by Friday! You don't get paid till the last one's well on his way. Get 'em out by Friday! It's important that we keep to schedule, there must be no delay." [Mark Hall of Styx Enterprises (otherwise known as "The Winkler")] "I represent a firm of gentlemen who recently purchased this house and all the others in the road, In the interest of humanity we've found a better place for you to go, go-woh, go-woh" [Mrs. Barrow (a tenant)] "Oh no, this I can't believe, Oh Mary, they're asking us to leave." [Mr. Pebble] "Get 'em out by Friday! I've told you before, 's good many gone if we let them stay. And if it isn't easy, You can squeeze a little grease and our troubles will soon run away." [Mrs. Barrow] "After all this time, they ask us to leave, And I told them we could pay double the rent. I don't know why it seemed so funny, Seeing as how they'd take more money. The winkler called again, he came here this morning, With four hundred pounds and a photograph of the place he has found. A block of flats with central heating. I think we're going to find it hard." [Mr. Pebble] "Now we've got them! I've always said that cash cash cash can do anything well. Work can be rewarding When a flash of intuition is a gift that helps you excel-sell-sell-sell." [Mr. Hall] "Here we are in Harlow New Town, did you recognise your block across the square, over there, Sadly since last time we spoke, we've found we've had to raise the rent again, just a bit." [Mrs. Barrow] "Oh no, this I can't believe Oh Mary, and we agreed to leave." (a passage of time) 18/9/2012 T.V. Flash on all Dial-A-Program Services This is an announcement from Genetic Control: "It is my sad duty to inform you of a four foot restriction on humanoid height." [Extract from coversation of Joe Ordinary in Local Puborama] "I hear the directors of Genetic Control have been buying all the properties that have recently been sold, taking risks oh so bold. It's said now that people will be shorter in height, they can fit twice as many in the same building site. (they say it's alright), Beginning with the tenants of the town of Harlow, in the interest of humanity, they've been told they must go, told they must go-go-go-go." [Sir John De Pebble of United Blacksprings International] "I think I've fixed a new deal A dozen properties - we'll buy at five and sell at thirty four, Some are still inhabited, It's time to send the winkler to see them, he'll have to work some more."
